Systems Maintenance Lead
The Systems Maintenance Lead provides supervision for junior maintenance personnel in support of critical IEW systems located within areas of INSCOM SCIF’s.
· Implements design, initial fielding, testing, training, emergency maintenance, and repair of satellite communications systems and signals intelligence equipment.
· Manages maintenance and supply operations in alignment with customer logistics and supply procedures and regulations.
· Acts as project leader and oversees and perform system level troubleshooting using complex computer diagnostics and test equipment. Assures that systems and equipment operations and maintenance comply with physical, operational, security, safety, and communications and electronics regulations.
· Provides expertise and instructs subordinates on commercial and military satellite communications and electronic warfare projects requiring detailed analysis of operational and technical issues. Evaluates the impact of proposed design changes on maintaining continuous operations.
· Trains military and contractor personnel on troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair of electronic warfare and SATCOM systems.
· Researches requirements and translates data into design/redesign specifications to support deployable customer equipment within SCIF’s. Employs, services, and calibrates state-of-the-art data collection equipment to monitor the functioning of communications and electronic warfare equipment.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
· Ability to train, manage and supervise technicians performing terminal and system level alignment, modification, repair, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of satellite communications and electronic warfare equipment and systems.
· Ability to read, interpret and work with complex sketches, drawings, schematics, and specifications.
· Knowledge of SATCOM and electronic warfare functional units and understanding of computer architecture, communications, software and peripherals used in satellite communications and electronic warfare systems, and operation of test equipment.
· Knowledge of US Military and commercial satellite technical control procedures, regulations, and doctrine.
· Understanding of computers, software and peripherals used in electronic communications systems.
· Knowledge of the installation and maintenance of audio systems.
· Knowledge of installation techniques, including red/black requirements.
· Knowledge of electrical wiring and grounding and the installation of fiber optic cable.
· Understanding of interconnectivity, protocol bus standards, cryptographic equipment operations and TEMPEST criteria.
· Understanding of electromagnetic compatability (EMC) principles.
· Command of fluent English, including the ability to read, write, and comprehend technical documentation, schematics, and diagrams written under the ANSI standards.
Experience & Education
· Associate’s degree in electronics or equivalent and formal technical training in electronic systems maintenance.
· Minimum ten (10) years of technical experience with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
· Experience with system fault isolation, repair, alignment and testing of network/system level and individual satellite and digital communications equipment problems. Capability to perform satellite antenna siting and orientation.
· Experience with electromagnetic compatibility and the functional application of EMI/RFI analysis and mitigation programs.
· Able to perform all duties to ensure timely, courteous and quality support to customer or customer affiliates.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
· Able to maneuver in small spaces and lift up to 50lbs.
· Supports customer systems on site whenever and wherever deployed. Available to deploy to other countries and/or theaters to perform quick reaction technical support to US forces worldwide military contingency missions and requirements in potentially hazardous work environments.
